space holder What happens on a mission?

Missions are usually seven days in duration, with four working days. During that time volunteers see an average of 4000 patients and dispense at least that many pairs of glasses. General medical examinations are provided by the medical doctors, and dentists extract teeth and instruct patients in proper dental care.

All travel and living arrangements are made by VOSH-Indiana. Volunteers are responsible for their own expenses. The average cost for a VOSH-Indiana mission is around $1200--including airfare, hotel, and food.

As a matter of dignity to the patients, the sponsoring organization will charge a nominal fee of no more than $1.00 for services; however, no one is ever denied care for lack of funds.
